About My Art:

About the Artist

Hi I am Bob Smith. I have been painting on and off for over 40 years. I started developing light of day painting about 15 years ago. I started in art painting on canvas in the mid 80s. I am a photographer also. Some of my photos inspire my paintings.

I am an inventor with a few working projects. I think I have invented a new way to paint. My goal with light of day painting has been to give a real look and feel to the sky of real art. I hope you enjoy. And yes I am starting to sell some pieces. Inquire below.

New Art?

I use my own process to paint a combination of semi transparent and opaque paint on a specially treated transparent media, like glass, to enable use of light from both sides of the painting for an ever changing look to the final work. Using the ever changing light of day a windowsill makes a good showplace. I have also mounted lighting behind my pieces in shadow boxes for normal wall mounting.

Other Art

As I was training I tried most painting media and photography. You will see paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic in my collection. My early work was trying to do Bob Ross style landscapes using acrylic paints. I can effectively extend working time of acrylics to hours using my techniques. I have over 20 light of day paintings, 18 canvas and 56 frame worthy photos. Not all are available for sale though.
